Weekend self-care open thread: In memoriam, Jeff Beck

Legendary guitarist Jeff Beck passed away unexpectedly this week. He rose to prominence with the seminal British Invasion band The Yardbirds, then struck out on his own, becoming that rarest of pop artists: A guitarist who didn't sing, but who was the center of his bands, much like Santana.

He was widely recognized as one of the top five guitarists of the rock era, up there with another former member of The Yardbirds, Jimmy Page, and yet another member of that band, Eric Clapton.

He was a complete musical being, finding joy in his his art, always exploring, never being afraid to sally forth in new directions. For an artist, there can be no greater way of living.

For this weekend's extended self-care, we honor the passing of a legend.
