The cautionary tale of Megyn Kelly

Megyn Kelly had one moment of bravery.

Maybe it wasn't bravery. Maybe her paymasters at Fox weren't yet sure what to make of Donald Trump, or what side to come down on. I think this to be the case.

But for whatever reason, she went hard at him in that infamous GOP debate. She didn't let him get away with his bullshit. She acted, surprisingly, like a journalist.

And she's been atoning for that act ever since.

She suffered sexual harassment at Fox at the hands of Roger Ailes. She suffered opprobrium from her natural audience for that tussle with Trump. She left Fox and went to NBC. And it wasn't enough.

She is who she is. She wasn't a secret liberal. She was, is, and always will be a conservative ideologue. She just happened to cross the wrong people. And when the consequences for that transgression followed, she was not happy. She didn't know where to turn. She didn't know what to do.

She tried to make it in the normie world on NBC. But she was shite at it. She wasn't a normie. She was bred and groomed to be a right-wing warrior. She was a Fox blonde, made to stoke the sexual fantasies of her 60-year old male viewers, and give them the political red meat they wanted, while they had horrible thoughts of what they'd like to do with her. She was a sex object spouting right wing talking points. And she transgressed those bounds, sent out there by her bosses to be the sacrificial lamb. Once they saw the return of the data from her performance, they hung her out to dry. But rather than make a clean break, she yearned to be let back into the house. She knew nothing other than the abuse she received, and that was her world.

Ever since the normie world shunned her because she just wasn't good at functioning in it, she has tried to atone for her sin. Her podcast is no different in tone and content than her show on Fox. It's full of the usual white grievance and conservative whining. And while she may have won some of her former following back, she's damaged goods. She disobeyed, and has had to walk the path of shame for almost a decade. And it will never be enough; she will always be seen by that culture as an offender against the truth, an apostate against the true American religion.

So it's no surprise that this failure wants to cut down a woman of accomplishment like Dr. Jill Biden. It's not in the least bit surprising. But she is yesterday's woman. She's a pretty face who has been thrown on the trash heap. No, she's not going hungry. But she'll never reach the same Empyrean heights she did while at Fox. She'll never again have a network show. Not even on Newsmax. Not even on OAN. Hell, not even on Real America's Voice. She was betrayed, and she betrayed herself. She threw her lot in with those who saw her merely as eye candy, as fantasy material for sad men. She has agency, and she wasted it.

Dr. Biden has led a life of achievement. She sits at the right hand of the most powerful man in the world. Megyn Kelly is a podcast host. She has to hustle to earn her paper. And, in the end, that is as it should be.
