Weekend self-care open thread: Ridin' with Trane

This is, of course, just one man's opinion. But as far as I'm concerned, jazz reached its apotheosis in the form of John Coltrane. The music which Trane pulled out of that saxophone had never been heard before, and hasn't been heard since. As modern jazz artists fight over traditionalism vs. modernity, Trane's music keeps serving as a roadmap for what the music can do. Listening to him is what made me fall in love with jazz. It has the depth and spirituality which informs all great music, of whatever genre. And I can think of no better method of self-care for us this weekend than to spend some time with Trane.

As always, be beautiful to yourselves and others.
