True Crime Friday: Scott Lee Kimball, The FBI Informant/Serial Killer
Scott Lee Kimball is a convicted felon and serial killer. In Colorado he murdered at least four people over a two-year period. The FBI strongly suspects Kimball in at least 21 other unsolved killings. He did most of his killings while being an FBI Informant. His nickname was Hannibal. I have written stories about truly evil people. None of them have anything on this particular monster. Kimball is one of the worst serial killers in the United States. How did he earn this title? You will soon find out and be outraged! He began his reign of terror in Colorado in 2003 and it ended upon his arrest in 2006. He was a career criminal using confidence scams, check fraud and robbery. His first violent crime happen when he murdered LeAnn Emry.
As with the majority of cases involving people with little to no means, the police did not fully investigate the murder of LeAnn Emry. That gave Kimball the free reign to brutally murder more people. Kimball was paid by the FBI for information and they protected him in his white collar scams. He was protected by the FBI regarding his fraud schemes because they thought he was giving them vital information regarding crimes. The FBI soon discovered that the information Kimball was providing was fake which embarrassed the FBI. The agent that oversaw the investigation was disciplined. He insisted that he was not the only one enabling Kimball at the bureau.
Kimball created evidence that his victims were still alive after he had killed them. He then proceeded to use the checks and credit cards knowing they were dead. The authorities believed Kimball that his victims were alive and had simply moved on with their lives.

But before I delve into the story regarding his third wife let me discuss how he kidnapped his second wife twice and raped her. He had ran away from a work release program. During this time he was hired as an informant by the FBI. He eventually had four sons and tried to kill one of his son’s for insurance money. Charges were never brought because there were conflicts between jurisdictions where the case should be prosecuted.

Kimball offered to take Kaysi and her boyfriend to a motel for a cooling off period.
