No Mercy

They are creating violence. They are undermining the safety of our country. They call themselves patriots, but they are criminals. And absolutely none of them are good people. 

I am, of course, talking about the terrorists who stormed the US Capitol grounds today in a putsch attempt.

Note that they were overwhelmingly white. Is it too early to ask why the Capitol Police went soft on them and received no backup from the Department of Defense? No tear gas, no rubber bullets, no National Guard until much later in the day?

All the terrorists will emerge almost entirely unharmed. If we are lucky, they will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

But tear gas and rubber bullets wouldn’t have been enough this afternoon, nor will they be enough now. These terrorists have gone too far.

Real bullets are what is now called for.

Mercy? We are four years too late for that. 

Next Steps for Dealing with These Terrorists

It is not enough just to deal with the terrorist attack on the US Capitol Building. The movement and ideology that fueled this attack must be taken care of.

I propose a new war on terror. But instead of Al-Qaeda, ISIS, or any other Islamic extremists, the targets of this new war will be white supremacists and the extreme right. Use the same personnel, tactics, and strategies that were successful in fighting the old war on terror. These people have proven that they are prepared to use deadly force. They must be met with deadly force every time.

When this happens again, law enforcement must be incentivized in some capacity to keep the safety and sanctity of our democracy as their number one objective. Law enforcement must retain the mentality that these are terrorists—not patriots, not disgruntled citizens, not simply Americans with a different viewpoint.

We all need to wipe the shit out of our eyes. There’s a goddamned war going on!
