Impeachment open thread: Cassandra is always right

Impeachment March, by Master Steve Rapport, CC BY 2.0

In Greek myth, Cassandra is a lonely figure who predicts the future accurately, but is cursed by the gods to always be ignored.

Millions of us were Cassandras in 2015/2016.  But even though we were legion, we may as well have been isolated soothsayers, tut-tutted and shushed by the great and the good.

Now things have turned out as badly as any of us could have predicted.

As the House debates impeaching the traitorous filth, and as steam gathers in the Senate for conviction, we can only hope that this country has learned a signal lesson. Some are too far gone, and those will have to be dealt with as situations arise. But for the people who voted for tax cuts and judges, and not for revolution and sedition, please heed what the past five years have wrought. This Republic is more precious than your 401K. And even judges appointed by the filth have gone against him.

We like to say that we're a nations of laws, not of men. But if we elect men and women who work to undermine the very principles upon which this nation rests, then the laws go out the door. Our laws survive only depending on whom we send to the halls of power.

This is your open thread. Impeach the motherfucker. Again.
