Insurrection

At this moment, Donald Trump supporters, encouraged by Trump, have stormed the Capitol. The seat of government is under siege by insurrectionists.

I'm not a pacifist. I believe in the use of force when necessary. And this is such an occasion.

This is an insurrection aimed at toppling the government. This is the textbook definition of sedition.

I do not care if we create Horst Wessels. Exercise the violence reserved to the state to put down a violent insurrection.

What a sad day for this country. The world's greatest democracy lays prostrate. It didn't have to be like this, except too many white people reacted to the nation's first Black president by following a fascist Pied Piper.

Make no mistake: the Republic won't fall. These thugs will be dealt with. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be inaugurated. But every person who supported this regime have this on their heads. Any blood spilled will be caused by their rhetoric.

And now, in the after time, Trump must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. He incited this riot. He incited this insurrection. He's a seditionist. No penalty can be harsh enough.
