True Crime Friday: George Waterfield Russell, Jr., the Charmer Serial Killer

George Russell, Jr., was born in April 1958. His kill count was low but the things he did to the victims’ bodies is disturbing. He murdered three women in Seattle, Washington during the summer of nineteen ninety. After killing his victims, he would mutilate them. He would also rape their corpses. He also posed his victims in a bizarre fashion which is only known to the serial killer as some type of disturbing sexual behavior. George is serving two life sentences without the possibility of parole. He is currently serving his time in a state prison.

The Early Childhood of George Russell, Jr.

George Russell, Jr., did not have a happy childhood. He was born in the State of Florida to Joyce and George Waterfield Russell Sr. It was an abusive marriage by all accounts and his parents divorced when he was an infant. His mother eventually remarried but that marriage did not work out either, so she left the marriage when George was a teenager and abandoned him in the process. His stepfather raised George after his mother left but that living arrangement would soon come to an end. His stepfather remarried after the divorce. George became obsessed with his new stepmother. He began to have sexual fantasies regarding his stepmother. He also spied on her, the obsession became so disturbing that he was kicked out of the house. He moved in with his aunts shortly thereafter.

He began to commit crimes during his teenage years. He was a known thief and burglar. He was eventually arrested for truancy. He did not serve any time in jail but was given an opportunity to work at the Mercer Island Police Station. George Russell used the fact that he worked at the police station to get women to feel comfortable around him. He went to bars and cocktail lounges to find his victims. Although, many women found him attractive, and he was known as a ladies’ man. But when he faced rejection, he became irate and violent. It was after being rejected that he started impersonating a police officer. When it was discovered that he was not a police officer at one of the clubs he frequented they banned him from the establishment. Soon after this incident he murdered his first victim. On the morning of June 23, 1990, the employees at McDonalds in Bellevue, Washington would get the shock of their lives when one of the employees went to take out the trash. At the dumpster site lay the nude disremembered body of a woman. The police were immediately called to the scene. And the investigation began.
