Thursday open thread: In Just Spring
The universe and existence keeps on turning, regardless of our machinations here on earth. To prove that, spring began in the Northern Hemisphere.
Yes, spring. That time of year when our spirits lift up. More sun, more warmth, more life.
The world is a bit mad right now. But the world has always been mad. And yet it continued in its paces. Spring, summer, autumn, winter. Then back to spring again.
When you feel run down, just know that Nature is always there, always ticking away. I take comfort in that our lives matter not to her; she keeps turning in her gyre, replenishing that which we destroy.
Of course, Her ability to do that is under threat. This isn't a call to heedlessness. But Her cycles give us a pattern, a road. We just have to heed her signals. The biggest lie we've told ourselves is that we can conquer and tame Nature. And for our troubles, we've received climate change, and floods and rains and droughts humanity has never seen.
A few days late, let us celebrate as the Earth here in the North rejuvenates itself, once again. It's up to us to make sure it can continue to do so.
