Say goodbye to Hollywood

Yesterday, President Joe Biden got the US out of Saudi Arabia's Yemeni quagmire. Meanwhile, over at the House of Representatives, Democrats, along with eleven Republicans, voted to boot QAnon filth Marjorie Taylor Greene from all of her committees.

And then, there was this:
The actors' union SAG-AFTRA, after the January 6 coup attempt, had joined in with the rest of the civilized world in revulsion at Donald Trump's actions, and had initiated a disciplinary hearing with the aim of kicking him out of the Guild. Rather than suffer another humiliation, Trump instead trotted out the old "You can't fire me, I quit!" gambit.

Now, in the grand scheme of things, this is a minor event. However, this is another indication that the only power Trump still holds is over a lumpenproletariat mired in conspiracy and grievance, which is strong enough to dictate Republican primaries, but nowhere near strong enough to direct the fate of the Republic.

And of course, this cut is a deep one to Trump's psyche and ego. He detests that lumpenproletariat which hangs on his every utterance. He wouldn't stop to piss on one of them if they were on fire. He's always wanted the recognition of the cool kids, of the movers and shakers, of people smarter than him, more talented than him, more loved than him. The Guild's action, and his fit of pique in reaction, proves him to be a failure, again. And, remember, this is an Industry which has sort of welcomed known whackadoodle Mel Gibson back into something of good graces. It draws the line at sedition.

Until the day he dies, Trump will rue the con he thought he was playing when he descended that gaudy escalator. It was supposed to be a grift to rebrand his quickly dimming fortunes. Instead, by winning, he is going to lose everything. This is on top of the House impeachment managers baiting him into testifying at his Senate trial next week.

It's been only two weeks since he scurried out of DC like a rat. Those two weeks have been a disaster for him. His prospects will only get worse.
