Wednesday open thread: President Obama addresses the nation

Well, my friends. I was puttering around, trying to make time before work to write something about Bill Weld and his very interesting results in last night's Republican primaries, when my fellow blog tyrant Trevor informed me that Barack Obama was going to address the nation at 5pm ET.

Let's please consider what's happening here. The current so-called president* is such a disaster as the country succumbs to disease, economic collapse, and civil unrest, that the previous president has to step in and do what the vermin can't. This has never happened in the history of our Republic. For the previous two centuries, past presidents have been able to retire and leave the running of the country to their successors. But the rat isn't running the country; he's ruining it. And it's up to every jack man of us to do our duty to save the commonwealth.

Add Pres. Obama's address tonight to former president George W. Bush coming out forcefully for George Floyd yesterday, and we have a spectacle never witnessed, where two former presidents find it incumbent upon themselves to work to save the country from a calamitous "leader".

You know how you read in history books and wonder how people living through historic events felt? Well, look around. We're in it. We are those people.
