Presidential Tax Day

All roads lead to Russia
.

You know this. I know this. Anyone who has been paying attention knows this.

But what we don't know is why. Why is Donald Trump so beholden to his Russian overlord, Vladimir Putin? Is it because Trump has been funneling Russian mob money through his businesses for decades? Is it because Putin has compromising pee pee tapes of Trump in Russia from 2013? Is it because Trump not only knew but actually encouraged election interference in 2016? Is it some combination of the three? Or is it something else entirely, perhaps even more nefarious?

Whatever the answer is, numerous clues could be provided if the Supreme Court rules today against the president in his quest to keep his tax returns out of the public sphere. On the surface, the argument is preposterous that the president of the United States is above the law and that he's "too busy" to provide already filed tax documents. But unfortunately, during the time of the Roberts Court, nothing is a given. We've recently seen successful victories for women's rights, LGBT rights, and DACA but we've also seen the upholding of the clearly unconstitutional Muslim ban. Roberts may very well be thinking about his legacy at this point in time, and if he is, we can and should see a favorable ruling in regards to the president's tax returns. If he's not, then the veil of mystery remains for the foreseeable future.

Here we go, kids. Get ready for what damn well should be the very last day of major Supreme Court decisions in the age of Trump. Lord knows we can't handle the stress of days like today for much longer.

This is your Supreme Court end-of-term open thread.
