Weekend self-care open thread: Langston Hughes
America, being a country birthed by England, has a rich literary tradition, which is our Anglo-Saxon inheritance. English is uniquely suited for literature.
And, in America, we have, I think, two great poets.
One was Walt Whitman, who created the American idiom.
And the other was Langston Hughes, who recreated the American idiom for a modern America.
Yesterday was the anniversary of his passing. So, as blog tyrant, I can think of no other fitting subject for this weekend's self-care than his mastery of the first art.
Indeed. What happens to a dream deferred?
As always, be excellent and loving to yourselves, and each other.
