Goodbye TPV. Hello The Establishment™ Bar!

There comes a time in every person's life where they have to take a plunge. It's scary, it's nerve-wracking, but it's the right thing to do. Today is the day.

Your stalwart Trevor LaFauci and I have decided to open up our own shop, and this is it.

We will always be grateful to Spandan for giving us the outlet to express ourselves. But we felt it was time to branch out and run our own joint.

The focus of this blog, considering the state we're in, will be the same as TPV for the foreseeable future. Our country is in a perilous state, and politics, both domestic and global, will be our meat and potatoes. We will, of course, have silly open threads to break the tension, and the Weekend Self-Care Open Thread will continue apace.

However, if the gods allow, we want this space to be more than just politics. We want it to be that, but also culture, and art, and music, and literature: the things which make a human life worth living. Politics are what we have to do as beings living in societies; the rest is what we need to do to be able to sustain societies.

Now, you'll see on the left hand side a little PayPal donation button. That's right. We're carrying that over from TPV. The costs in running this site are minimal. One of the things I decided to do was to shell out for a paid Disqus account. I know, people can have ad-blockers and not see the ads on the free Disqus software. But it gored me to know what kinds of ads they pushed. Not everyone has an ad-blocker, knows how to use one, or can use one due to technical matters. But, as I said, that's really the only cost of running the blog. The donations are to show regard for the work we do, and have been doing for years. Don't worry, we won't guilt you into donating. But if you've valued what we done on TPV, please consider sending us, as I told Trevor, bourbon money.

But enough of that. We hope you'll find as much value in this place as you've found on TPV, and that you'll consider making us one of your homes. With Trevor and I gone, I don't know what will happen to TPV. It saddens me, but at some point one has to let go of the past to be able to grow.

That's it, folks. Join us on the adventure. The bar is open, and the first round's on me.
