Weekend self-care open thread: Dead Can Dance

I have many and varied musical tastes. And back in the 1980s and 1990s, the best way to sate my need for new sounds was via the music label 4AD. And in that time, my go-to was the duo Dead Can Dance.

I will let Wikipedia take over from here:
Dead Can Dance are an Australian neoclassical darkwave band from Melbourne. Currently composed of Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry, the group formed in 1981. They relocated to London the following year. Australian music historian Ian McFarlane described Dead Can Dance's style as "constructed soundscapes of mesmerising grandeur and solemn beauty; African polyrhythms, Gaelic folk, Gregorian chant, Middle Eastern music, mantras, and art rock."[3]
One Christmas, when I was much younger and we were still giving out Christmas presents—we stopped that about six years ago—I told my dearly beloved that all I wanted was a collection of Dead Can Dance albums. And, because they loved me, that's what they got me.

A few weeks ago I decided to revisit their catalog on my music streaming account, Qobuz—which I highly recommend; their audio quality is nonpareil—and came to discover that they had reformed and were still putting out, occasionally, new music. I listened to their most recent album, and was mesmerized.

So, because I love sharing my passions with all of you, this weekend will be devoted to this weird band.

Get your goth on.

And as always, dear friends, be ever kind and gentle to yourselves and those around you.
