These are not serious people

Yesterday, along party lines, the GOP-controlled House of Representatives voted to begin an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden.

Now, we must make one thing clear: this is an inquiry. It's not an actual impeachment. It's an investigation to throw shit at the wall and see what sticks. The problem? Nothing will stick. This will be all out in the open, with Republicans making ludicrous claims sans any evidence, and Democrats knocking down the silly accusations on national television.

Now, let's be clear: much like Seinfeld, this is an impeachment about nothing. Bill Clinton's impeachment was in revenge for Richard Nixon. And Joe Biden's is in revenge for Donald Trump's historic TWO impeachments. Even someone as far gone as Chuck Grassley says that there's no there there. The Republican Party is nothing but a pity party, wanting to play tit-for-tat when it feels wronged. It is not a governing party; it doesn't know how to govern. While the House GOP masturbates with this inquiry, issues of national importance are languishing, specifically aid to Ukraine and Israel. Yes, the Republican Party, which says is Israel's greatest friend, is letting it dangle as it fights an eliminationist foe so that it can carry out this kabuki on Joe Biden.

And, of course, this is all it has. The economy is booming. Manufacturing is booming. The stock market is booming. Employment is booming. And so on and so forth. Inflation has come down so much that the Federal Reserve foresees three interest rate cuts in 2024. Imagine going into the general election as Team Biden/Harris with that record, and all that the GOP has is the twice-impeached, four-times-indicted, declared rapist Donald Trump as its standard bearer, with the party having done absolutely nothing legislatively. I don't know about you, but no amount of push-polling from the mainstream media will engender a narrative of decline.

There are no leaders in the GOP. There are also no moderates. There's MAGA, and those afraid of MAGA. It's all the same, as it leads down the same road. Much like the voters soured on the Clinton impeachment over a blow job, so will they roll their eyes at an impeachment inquiry based on what Pres. Biden's son did or did not do, which is in no way related to his father.

Pres. Biden succinctly summarizes this mishegoss:

The Republican Party is an entity without ideas, and without morals. Team Biden/Harris will hammer home that in this Congress, the GOP has passed nothing which has become law, aside from keeping the government running. It has done nothing to improve the lives of Americans. All it has done is whine and stomp their feet. They thought they had America behind it, because of the bubble in which they live. 

When you give your fealty to a false idol, it will never end well. The process which began with Bill Clinton's election will accelerate in 2024. It is a party in a death spiral. Let's put it out of our misery.
