Weekend Self-Care: The Music of Queen
“It's just a name, but it's very regal obviously, and it sounds splendid. It couldn’t have been King, it doesn't have the same ring or aura as Queen. It's a strong name, very universal and immediate. It had a lot of visual potential and was open to all sorts of interpretations. I was certainly aware of gay connotations, but that was just one facet of it.” -Freddy MercuryHence the reason that Freddy Mercury chose "Queen" as the name for what would become one of the biggest band's in the world. As a tribute to our neighbors across the pond and to the passing of Elizabeth II, let us honor one of the island's best rock bands with some of Freddy's, Brian's, John's, and Roger's biggest hits. If you haven't seen their full 20-minute set at Live Aid in 1985, I highly recommend it as it remains one of, if not the best live musical performance in history. Let us take this weekend to enjoy the music of these Bohemian Brits and remember to love and cherish those around you.
