Wednesday open thread: They forgot about Ye

Well, let us mourn the short-lived campaign of one Kanye West.

Reports are coming out that Ye has canceled his Quixotic campaign for the presidency just two short weeks after throwing his Kangol into the ring. (Yes, I'm Gen-X. Shut up.)

According to The Independent:
According to the report, West had attempted to get his name on the ballot as a third-party candidate, but needed to collect 132,781 signatures by Wednesday (15 July) to be eligible to run in Florida.
Look, we all know West isn't all there. He hasn't been since his mother's death. And no one around him seems to care enough about him to steer him away from self-destructive decisions. In this, he's very much like Donald Trump. He's surrounded by yes-people, who just glom on to him so that they can fleece him.

All that West has to show for this endeavor is a load of mockery and a further tarnishing of his image. I wouldn't be surprised if lawyers for The Gap are trying to figure out a way to sever ties with such a mercurial individual.

And for all the great and the good on Twitter who were convinced that Ye's entry would throw the election to the Rat? Do you feel silly? Or were you, of course, hoping that West's run would create the horse race you so crave? Have you learned nothing from 2016? Do you place clicks above saving this country? These may or may not be rhetorical questions.

Now that we have that bit of the silly season over, time to get back to work. And hopefully Kanye West will finally get the help he so obviously needs.

This is your open thread.
