Kaddish yatom
Today is the 3rd anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel.
One would have thought that such a heinous action would have brought a groundswell of universal condemnation. It was barbaric. It was murderous. It was directed at civilians of all ages. They were killed in cold blood. Both men and women were raped. It was an atrocity.
I was on a Discord server at the time. And immediately the rhetoric turned to "evil Zionists". The usual suspects didn't even give a decent amount of time for mourning before lauding the "freedom fighters" of Hamas. Massive marches took place within days in all major capitals. Not condemning Hamas. But declaring that Israel had no right to retaliate or defend itself.
Because, you see, Israelis got just what they deserved. The mere existence of a Jewish state is an imposture on the global body politic. And now Hamas took the first step in its eradication and replacement by yet another Muslim state.
Jews, as always, cannot have self-determination. They must always be rootless, taken in on sufferance, and always to be looked upon as, at best, second-class citizens, subject to expulsion or oppression at any moment.
Today there will be hundreds of rallies to commemorate the date. But they won't be held to honor the murdered Jews. They will be held to protest the "Gaza genocide". They will claim that they are mourning all those Gazans lost in this war. But make no mistake. By choosing this day, when Israel woke up to the worst calamity since the Shoah, what they really are doing is celebrating the slaughter of Jews. They will be held to remind the world's Jews that they are less human than the precious Muslims. They are being held to remind the rest of us that "never again" was, at best, only a temporary declaration in the aftermath of the Shoah, now made null and void.
Today we mourn the Israeli and other lives lost on that day. Because, of course, it wasn't just Jews who were murdered on October 7, 2023. But to Hamas they were all legitimate targets for having any truck with the "Zionist entity". Those who killed them will not triumph.
