True Crime Friday: Jose Jurado Montilla, the TikTok Influencer serial killer
Jose Jurado Montilla is a serial killer from Spain. He is also known as “Dinamita” and was convicted of killing four people. He received one hundred and twenty-three years before he was released after serving only twenty-eight years in prison. Montilla was suspected of killing even more people before he was finally caught. The reason he was released early because of a court ruling. Although he had been convicted of killing people he was let out of prison. The system failed all his victims. There is a Netflix series regarding Montilla which streamed in March of 2026.
Montilla began a TikTok in 2023 recording his travel across the land. He appeared with another fellow traveler, Ester Estepa. Her family was used to her traveling and living off the land. But she always stayed connected with them. So, when she stopped appearing in Montilla videos and no one could make contact with her, the family became suspicious. Montilla was a very popular influencer but what most of his fans did not know he was a serial killer.
Pepa began receiving strange messages from her daughter's phone in late August 2023. Something seemed off about the text messages they did not seem like something her daughter would text. Also, when she called Ester, she would not get an answer from her daughter which raised red flags. Pepa reported Ester missing.
Montilla continued to call the family several times and ask about the investigation. He also spoke about Ester’s disappearance in his social media posts. He even went as far as to retrace her steps by step moments before she vanished into thin air. Her mother and her family had to pretend that they believed Montilla did not know where Ester was because they wanted to keep tabs on him and find out what he had done to Ester. Unfortunately, Ester remains were found beside the roadside a year later by hikers.

Not much is known about Jose Jurado Montilla's childhood. One can only assume it was not good once since his life of crime started at an early age. He was born in Spain in 1961 in the region of Malaga. His public records focus more on his criminal records than his childhood records.
