To Destroy Hamas, Israel needs new leadership

I am of the belief that Hamas must be destroyed. After the atrocities of October 7th, there can be no other alternative.

My confidence in the Israeli people is absolute. They have proven themselves to be tough, determined and resilient. I also have confidence in the rank and file of the Israeli Defense Force.

But I have no confidence in the Israeli government. In fairness, much of Israel seems to have arrived at the same conclusion.

To be clear, I am not saying that Israel should give up on destroying Hamas, rescuing the hostages (the ones that are still alive), and making the people of Israel more safe.

I am saying the current Israeli government is incapable of winning the war on Hamas. Or to be more accurate, they only have an interest in prolonging the war with Hamas to stay in power.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has proven to be a disastrous leader who has done immense damage to Israeli institutions, credibility and cohesion.

Exhibit A being the Judicial reforms that were in reality a power grab. Even before the terrorist attacks on October 7th, there were warnings from officers of the IDF that the judicial reforms were making Israel vulnerable there were warnings from officers of the IDF that the judicial reforms were making Israel vulnerable.

What is even worse, Prime Minister Netanyahu ignored warnings that an attack from Hamas was on its way.

While I have nothing but respect for how the people of Israel responded to the attacks on October 7th, Prime Minister Netanyahu and his cabinet undercut significant amounts of good will that the people of Israel had by actively alienating leaders across the free world.

Tragic as the civilian death toll is in Gaza, it was made inevitable by Hamas. No one but them is responsible for the misery in Gaza because Hamas broke the truce by committing war crimes.

However, Netanyahu’s cabinet is responsible for quite a few diplomatic missteps that have cost not only the Israeli people but the free world dearly.

I understand that they were most likely just venting out of (justifiable) anger, but publicly referring to the people of Gaza as human animals human animals was not a smart thing to do.

But even less excusable, Netanyahu’s government went into Gaza without a clear long term strategy or a day after plan.

To be clear, I would argue the biggest victims in all of this are the rank and file of the IDF who have to die and kill in Gaza because their Prime Minister let the situation get so bad in the first place, and the people of Israel.

Occupying the Gaza Strip is a really bad idea for Israel.

But so are all the other options.

In order to destroy Hamas, Israel needs a new Prime Minister and a new government. A government that commands the respect of the Israeli people and the IDF.

To any pro Hamas people:

You detest Netanyahu and his cabinet because you hate Jews. I would also add you seem to find violence, especially sexual violence, exciting.

I detest Netanyahu because he is a corrupt and power hungry Prime Minister doing serious damage to Israeli institutions, credibility and cohesion, along with the rest of his government. To the only functioning Democracy in the Middle East.

We are not the same.

Am Yisrael Chai.
