Your Revolution Is A Farce

I hate being right.

As someone entrenched in the political world, I have come to understand that there are dark forces at play trying to undermine American sovereignty daily. Some may call me a conspiracy theorist, but that term fails to capture the Occam's Razor effect on American history whereas often times the simplest explanation is the correct one, even if it may seem farfetched at the time. What I do understand is that very few, if any, large-scale acts or actions are organic. There is always a driving force behind mass movement. And all too often in the 21st century, these driving forces bring with them nefarious intentions designed to undermine the movement's core intention and do damage instead to those most closely associated with the Democratic Party.

To understand what is currently going on with the campus protests, you have to understand that this is simply the latest in a pattern of bad actors jumping on the bandwagon and co-opting popular movements for their own hidden agendas. We saw it in 2010 when it was revealed that the seemingly organic Tea Party Movement was essentially astroturfed and funded by Charles and David Koch funneling money to Americans for Prosperity who, in turn, organized the rallies, ads, and messaging for the movement. We saw the Standing Rock protests of 2016 infiltrated and closely monitored by undercover FBI informants. And we saw it again during the Black Lives Matter protests in the summer of 2020, an overwhelmingly peaceful movement but one that saw itself infiltrated by the FBI in places like Denver and one where White supremacists in Minneapolis disrupted peaceful protests through violent means. In each instance, we had outside parties with a vested interest in the outcome of the protests seemingly guide and direct the protests in a direction that they felt would benefit them and their backers the most.

Why should we expect the 2024 campus protests to be anything different?

We shouldn't. And sadly, this latest generation of college students has yet to realize they are simply pawns in someone else's game.

Let's take a look at a recap of those who have been arrested in the last week:

Look, I admire idealism as much as the next guy. I wish I had been more active on my college campus. But blindly joining the mob when it's becoming increasingly clear that this latest "movement" is nothing more than an astroturfed op designed to bring down Joe Biden isn't doing anyone any favors. In fact, this movement is now reaching the stage where it's doing more harm than good. Neutral parties don't want their son's or daughter's graduation interrupted by your flag-waving antics. They don't want to see custodians spending hours upon hours picking up trash you left outside your $500 REI tents. They don't want to see pro-Palestinian graffiti written on historic campus buildings. Do you truly think that you're winning the hearts and minds of your fellow students when your actions are forcing the cancellation of the entire graduation commencement, preventing students from participating in what will likely be one of the proudest moments of their lives?

The truth is you all got played. Big time. While we don't know who exactly is funding this current movement, there can now be no doubt that it never was organic. You all were pawns in someone else's geopolitical game. But even worse than your blind ignorance has been your willful embrace of hateful words and rhetoric against the Jewish community. You were so willing to join the in-crowd that you never considered how your words and actions made an entire campus community feel unwelcome and unsafe. Never once did you stop to consider that the person you perceive to be your enemy might very well end up being your lab partner, your teammate, or even your roommate. You were led astray by a protest leader who never showed his or her face, likely because he or she wasn't actually a student or faculty member. You were so caught up in the moment that you never for a second considered if what you were doing was the right thing to do.

Finals for schools like Columbia are coming up this week. Of those who are actually college students, the majority of them will leave their encampments to return to the academic buildings where they have spent the majority of their semester. After finals, they will head home for the summer, relaxing by the pool with a nice margarita. Meanwhile, the conflict in Gaza will continue. Israeli families will continue to wonder if their family members being held hostage by Hamas are still alive. Gaza families will continue to wish Hamas had never brought the war to their very own neighborhoods. Joe Biden and his foreign policy team will continue to work tirelessly to keep Benjamin Netanyahu in check and work toward a viable, sustainable, long-term peace solution for the region. All this will go on while you take the next three months off, enjoying the comforts and privacy of your home, not having a care in the world. Meanwhile, your revolutionary "leaders" will be off profiting off the next struggle, they too, not caring about the outcome but instead being more invested in personal fame and fortune. Your movement will be nothing but a blip in the history books, seen simply as the latest iteration of a gullible generation unable to realize it's being used for political purposes.

That is a $300,000 Ivy League lesson you coud have learned for free if you had only been paying attention.
