Wednesday open thread: The beginning of justice
Yes, he gave a deranged speech last night, which will probably get him indicted on another string of particulars. But make no mistake: he's cooked, and he knows it.
And it only gets worse from here for him. Reports indicate that Fulton County DA Fani Willis will announce her decision on indictment in May. Meanwhile, special counsel Jack Smith is hoovering up all possible witnesses, getting judges to break the seal of attorney-client confidentiality.
I find people like Trump especially heinous. They were born with every advantage in life. And rather than do something for the benefit of others with those advantages, they use them just to further their own wants and desires.
Now, it will still take time for the full ramifications of justice to work out. But make no mistake: this is the beginning of justice. I wouldn't have given two farthings about his crimes if he'd kept his bloated orange ass up at the top of the escalator. But he decided to try and destroy this country. Now he's about to learn what the consequences for that are.
Again, I return to hubris. It doesn't always work out, but hubris is the one thing which makes the powerful fall. Trump's mob tactics worked for his petty grifting; those days are far gone. For flying above his station, he's about to be brought down crashing to earth. He will be a signal lesson to other would-be autocrats. This Republic and the majority of its people are stronger than you. You will mee the same fate.
This is your open thread.
Postscript
Yes, someone is realizing just what he's facing:
Trump tonight- They're looking at me through the espionage act...of 1917... where the penalty is death.."

He knows they have him nailed for something really bad- like sharing the docs w/ third parties.
