BREAKING: FOX NEWS
Get the Tuck outta here!
I've been waiting 14 years to hear that directive come down from Rupert Murdoch at Fox News. And today of all days, it finally happened.
A little after 11:30 AM this morning, Fox News announced that it and its fascist frontrunner Tucker Carlson had parted ways. From the official Fox News statement:
NEW YORK — April 24, 2023 — FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.
Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.
FOX News Media operates the FOX News Channel (FNC), FOX Business Network (FBN), FOX News Digital, FOX News Audio, FOX News Books, the direct-to-consumer streaming services FOX Nation and FOX News International and the free ad-supported television service FOX Weather. Currently the number one network in all of cable, FNC has also been the most watched television news channel for more than 21 consecutive years, while FBN ranks among the top business channels on cable. Owned by Fox Corporation, FOX News Media reaches nearly 200 million people each month.
You know shit has hit the fan when he doesn't even get his own goodbye show.
We all knew that there would be some fallout from the $787.5 million Dominion settlement but none of us in our wildest dreams believed that Tucker Carlson of all people would be made the fall guy. After all, he is the Golden Goebbels of Fox News, a man whose lies are so convincing that he's made himself indispensable to the network over these past 14 years. There has to be something more for the network to take this drastic action. Was there a stipulation in the Dominion settlement? Was Rupert Murdoch angry at Carlson for continuing to push the Big Lie. Is it because Carlson has been named in a lawsuit by former Fox News producer Abby Grossberg? Or is it simply where all of the above made it so that Carlson was doing more harm than good for a network that for the first time in its history is facing consequences for lying?
I'm sure that some of these questions will be answered in the coming days. Until then, enjoy this moment. The Fox News evening hour has one less fascist on the air tonight. That's not to say that someone equally terrible won't take his place. But losing the headliner is a significant blow to Fox News' fascist ambitions. Carlson is a cult figure on the right. His viewers will notice his absence. Some may migrate to OANN or Newsmax. Carlson himself will likely reemerge at CPAC and other right-wing speaking engagements. But never again will he be able to spout his blubbering bile to a million-plus people every weeknight on Fox News at 8 PM.
That in itself is a huge win for the country.
