'Twas a Good Week for the Good Guys

Do you feel it?

The tide is turning, my friends.

Twenty-seven months into Joe Biden's presidency and we're really starting to see bits and pieces of justice fall into place.

This week alone had several big victories. Starting with Cheeto Mussolini, it was a week filled with likely ketchup stains throughout Mar-a-Lago. That is because the wheels of justice are finally catching up to Donny Small Hands in more ways than one. The E. Jean Carroll trial has once again brought back Trump's history of sexual assaults. Mike "The Fly" Pence finally testified to a federal grand jury and did so over the course of 7 hours on Thursday, proving that Jack Smith is likely gearing up for charges in the January 6th DOJ case. And the Citizens for Ethics in Washington, or CREW, published a report yesterday detailing Trump earning $160 million from international business deals while president. The chances of Trump getting off scott-free of all three of these cases is zero percent and we still have impending indictiments coming from Fani Willis this summer, the DOJ stolen documents case, and the Manhattan DA case where Trump has been charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records in New York, set to have its trial begin on October 2nd.

While Trump slowly and painfully getting his comeuppance and Ron DeSantis getting pwned by a cartoon mouse would be more than enough to celebrate, let's also acknowledge the wins we're getting at the state level, starting off with the dual wins yesterday with both South Carolina and Nebraska defeating Draconian heartbeat bills in their respective state legislatures. There's also Montana transgender legislator Zooey Zephyr, who like her Democratic peers in Tennessee has been censured for speaking truth to power and doing so in a red state with Republicans having a supermajority in state government. Like the Tennessee Three, Zephyr has now been given a national platform and has emerged has a powerful Gen-Z legislator who may very well become one of the faces of transgender rights for the next generation. Additionally, Washington state became the 10th state to prohibit the sale of AR-15s and other assualt weapons this week, proving once again that Democrats are the only adults in the room when it comes to actually addressing the issue of gun violence prevention.

Meanwhile in Cuckoo Bananas Republicandia, the GOP used these past five days to pass a horrific debt limit billwage war on adoptive parents, and bemoan the loss of their favorite neo-Nazi on Fox News.

These two parties' priorities could not be any different.

And while the GOP's actions will continue to enrage us all, it's important to remember that these actions are born out of desperation. They're losing. This week showed us that. Their top two candidates are criminally insane. Their extreme anti-woman agenda is failing in Nebraska and South Carolina. They are losing Gen-Z and elevating a new generation of young, dynamic Democratic leaders. Their own Fox News fascist Father Coughlin became so toxic that not even he could survive the wrath of his immigrant boss, Rupert Murdoch. Their QAnon Congresswoman can't avoid alienating massive swarths of women voters. At this point, the only demographic Republicans are even trying to win is the straight, White male vote age 55+. Yet with their continued threats to cut social security even that demographic is tending Democrat as of late. It's almost as if Republicans have zero interest in winning elections a generation from now.

So enjoy this moment. Enjoy this week. The moral arc of the universe bent a little bit closer to justice for all of us on the Democratic side. There's surely more work to be done. But Joe and Kamala are officially onboard. Badass Congressman Jamie Raskin beat cancer. And Republicans are self-imploding. All while the wheels of justice are turning noticeably quicker to bring accountability to the conman from Queens.

More weeks like this, please. For all of our sake.
