Weekend self-care open thread: Perseverance
Just two short weeks ago we landed the Perseverance rover on Mars.
Let's just marvel at the technological miracle it was. It had been traveling through space for months. Anything could have gone wrong at any moment, up to the time of touch down. And now we have a robot on another planet, sending back data, and pictures of a clarity we've never had before.
Human beings are an odd lot. The same species which engages in senseless tribal wars can reach out beyond the surly bonds of earth and dance in the heavens. This is why I have hope for us hairless apes.
