Open thread: Trump caught the hoax

I went to bed last night with the news that Donald Trump was in quarantine because his "aide", Hope Hicks, tested positive for COVID. And now I wake up to news that Trump and Melania both have the virus.

To say that I am swimming through schadenfreude would be an understatement.

No, I don't care if Trump dies. I don't care if Melania dies. I want every bad thing to happen to them, as punishment for the hell they've put us through for the past four years.

But this is also delicious for another reason: Science will have its day. Trump tried to wish away the virus. He ignored the science. He never wore a mask, or socially distanced. And finally the law of averages caught up with him.

However, this eruption also shows Trump's utter sociopathy. They knew Hicks was sick, and still went ahead with campaign rallies, where attendees were cheek-to-jowl. And what if they infected Joe Biden? It doesn't bare contemplation.

The ways of God are not the ways of men. One of the things which troubles me about a Divinity is the problem of theodicy: how can a good God allow evil to happen. Well, today God got Her own back. It was only a matter of time before it would all collapse for Trump, and now it has.

If 2020 wasn't exciting enough for you yet, well, here you go. The "president" of the United States has contracted COVID. May you live in interesting times, indeed.
