Weekend self-care open thread—The MC5!

Contrary to popular opinion, punk rock didn't emerge fully formed from Johnny Rotten's head. In point of fact, there would have been no Sex Pistols or the Clash were it not for American bands like, obviously, the Ramones; New York Dolls; the Velvet Underground; Iggy and the Stooges; and MC5.

MC5 was a Detroit outfit which made some of the funkiest, punkest music, from the mid-605s to the early-70s. Its leftist politics and anti-establishment leanings made them the proto-punk band, from which everything else flowed.

For this weekend's self-care, a bit from the godfathers of punk. Eat that, Johnny.

Rage against the machine, man!

As always, take care of yourselves and others.
