I'm not even going to bother looking up the junior varsity portion of Wednesday's testimony, because whoo boy this was Gordon Sondland during his turn at bat:
During the evening session, Laura Cooper gave some good testimony that the Ukrainians knew something was up earlier than formerly known. But that was all a bagatelle. Sondland laid waste to Trumpland so viciously, even if reluctantly, that Donald Trump bleated out that Sondland, in fact, exonerated him, like some delusional maniac.
Today should fill in more details. From Axios:
Thursday, Nov. 21: Fiona Hill and David Holmes
- Hill, Trump's former Russia adviser, discussed in her closed-door testimony how former national security adviser John Bolton was worried by the shadow diplomacy being conducted by Mulvaney, Sondland and Giuliani in Ukraine.
While I don't expect today to match yesterday's seismic events, it will move things along the path to an impeachment in the House. Then Mitch McConnell will have to decide which is better: Saving Trump, or trying to save his Senate majority in the face of an almost-certain Democratic White House and House of Representatives.
- Holmes, an aide to top Ukraine diplomat Bill Taylor, testified in his closed-door deposition that he overheard President Trump discuss "investigations" with Gordon Sondland in a phone call on July 26.
Have fun, kids. We'll catch up later.
