Weekend self-care open thread: Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Gregory Porter
I discovered Gregory Porter on BBC Four.
He was the host for a series entitled Gregory Porter's Popular Voices. He surveyed great pop music voices of the past one hundred years.
He would, on occasion, sing in the series. And to say that I was blown away would be an understatement. I had never heard of him, didn't know him. And I rued that fact. This gentleman is a singular talent, his voice an instrument of suppleness and subtlety.
This son of Bakersfield, CA, spreads his gospel of jazz across the globe. He represents what is best in America: our talent, our art, our broad-mindedness.
Ladies and gentlemen, please be upstanding for Mr. Gregory Porter.
You may be wondering about his head covering. He says it's a personal choice, and refuses to elaborate further. Good for him. It's none of our business. His voice shakes mountains; such a petty thing should be no one's concern
As always, dear friends, be ever kind, gentle, and joyful with yourselves and those around you.
