Barclay Davis - Lover Of Mine, The Return Of Lydia Cole

Art by Scopedog

It's the beginning of the week. Max has just taught a class, and his students head out. Soon, Max is by himself, at his desk, doing paperwork.

But then, Max is taken by surprise, as a pair of hands covers his eyes from behind. After a quick startle yelp, Max quickly recovers and tries to play games.

"Ho-ho, lemme guess. Someone blonde and beautiful is standing right behind me, wanting to play silly fun games. Ok then, I'll play along! Come over here..."

Max grabs them from behind, and brings them over to sit on his lap. Only to discover who's hands those belong to.

"LYDIA!!!" Max screams, as he quickly drops her and wheels his chair away from her, until he's literally up against the wall with his arms out.

"Hi Max. Nice seeing you again." Lydia Cole says, as she almost hit the ground after Max dropped her. Max's first love, and the one who had nearly destroyed him with her selfishness, had shown up at his school.

"Whuh, whuh, whuh...what are you doing here?" Max asked, still not believing what he was seeing.

"I thought I come by to say hi to you!" Lydia answers in a rather seductive voice.

"Oh...alright." Max told her. "You said hi. NOW LEAVE!!!😠😠😠😠😠"

Lydia responds, "Oh Max, you don't really mean that, do..."

"Yes I absolutely DO mean that, Lydia! I want nothing to do with you! AT ALL!!! Not after what you did to me last time, dumping me on our 'first date' so you could hook up with that lowlife scumbag!" Max shouted, as he brought up Lydia ditching him for Rudolf.

"Oh you're just overreacting there, Max." Lydia told him. "Besides, he really wasn't that good in bed."

"Oh well, ISN'T THAT NICE TO KNOW!!!😠😠😠😠😠" Max growled through gritted teeth, as he continued talking. "Why do you even care about me now? Why come and see me?"

"Well, I've been so lonely, Max." Lydia told him. "My life is so boring and empty right now."

"What about your career?" Max asks of her. "Isn't that job you have keeping you busy and productive?"

"I lost my job a while ago." Lydia confided. "Guess I was on the wrong end of the numbers game."

"Hmpf! More like you sucked at it!" Max snapped at Lydia. "You weren't much of anything, without my help!"

"Why do you have to be like that, Max?" Lydia asked him. "I just came by to let you know I'm available to you now. We can resume where we left off. Before our first date!"

After staring at Lydia for a moment, with disdain in his eyes, Max speaks out. "Let's get something straight here, Lydia! Even if we were the last two people on the face of the earth, and we were both stranded on a deserted island, I STILL wouldn't want anything to do with you! Everytime I got close to you, you went and did something that hurt me, leaving me badly wounded, emotionally! First, with Eddie Baker, then with Professor Lysenko, and finally with Rudolf! You'd rather be with filth, like that, than with me. So why would I want to go out with you, after all the hell you put me through, in the first place?"

"And second of all..." Max says, until he's interrupted by a third person entering the conversation.

"Max, who is this? Who are you talking to?" Frida asks Max, as she approaches him.

After Max looked at Frida, he turned to Lydia, and tells her "And second, and most important of all, I'm ALREADY seeing someone else!" Max then gets behind Frida, puts his hands on her shoulders, and continues talking to Lydia. "I want you to meet Frida Olsen! She's my girlfriend! My sweetheart! MY LOVER!!!"

Lydia was shocked to discover Max has someone in his life! She says to him, "Y...You have a girlfriend?!!"

Frida was confused by all this. She says "Max, who is this? Who are you talking to?"

"Lydia!" Max answers.

Frida quickly turned to look at Lydia, not believing what she was hearing. "LYDIA?!! THE Lydia, the one you've been telling me about?" Frida asked Max, turning back at him.

"Yes!!!" Max answers, as Frida quickly turns to look at Lydia again.

"Hey!" Lydia says to Frida, while waving her fingers at her.

Frida throws an ugly, angry look at Lydia, It was hate at first sight.

"WOW, that's...that's something, you...actually having a girlfriend, I'm just...WOW!!!" Lydia's having a hard time getting the words out of her mouth. The last thing she expected seeing was Max having a girlfriend in his life. And the fact Frida looks so stunningly beautiful only made Lydia's situation more problematic.

"And you're really, truly happy being with her?" Lydia asked Max, as Frida didn't like that question posed to him, and gave Lydia another dirty look.

"YES I AM VERY HAPPY WITH HER, LYDIA!!!" Max shouts back at Lydia. "In fact, since we've been together, I've never been more happy in my entire life! Here, lemme show you!" Max then takes Frida, turns her around, and plants a big, deep, open mouth kiss on her, which causes Frida to shake uncontrollably.

When Max breaks the kiss on Frida, he quickly tells Lydia "See? That's what being happy looks like! Something you..." Max didn't say another word, as Frida grabbed him and started madly kissing Max. After kissing him for what seemed like forever, Frida breaks it and puts her head on Max's shoulder, leaving him quite a bit flustered by it, yet telling Lydia "What she said!"

Lydia looked more uncomfortable watching that, as Max was trying to put more distance between the two of them. But then Lydia composed herself and said to Max. "Well then, congratulations Max! I guess. If you're happy settling with someone who clearly suffers from anorexia, then who am I to stand in the way of your happiness?"

"BITCH, WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SUPPOSED..." Frida started shouting, until Max cut her off so he could speak to Lydia.

"How I feel is none of your damned business, Lydia!" Max tells her. "Because, as far as I'm concerned, you're dead to me! And I wanna keep it that way! So you're going to turn around and walk out of this building NOW!!! Before I have you reported for trespassing on school property!"

Lydia looked at him for a second. But then said. "Fine, Max. I'll leave you two be." then turned around to start heading out the door. But then, Lydia quickly turned back around and got up close to Max - and while she was doing that, Lydia slipped a piece of paper into Max's front vest pocket, without he or Frida knowing about it - and said to him, "But if you ever decide to change your mind..."

"Trust me, I WON'T!!! Now get the fuck out already!!!" Max commanded Lydia, who calmly slinked out of Max's classroom, leaving Max with a pissed off look on his face and Frida with equal parts anger and concern over what she witnessed.

"She...she's not going to try and take you for herself, is..." Frida asked Max with concern before Max cut her off.

"NO!" Max assures Frida. "She can't touch me, Frida! She can't hurt me anymore!" Max then approaches Frida and cups his hands on her face and calmly tells her "Especially now, more than ever, that I have you in my life...my love." He then kisses her sweetly on her lips and then hugged Frida tightly, which Frida greatly took in. "Let's go have lunch now, love." He says, as they both leave the classroom.

They were walking out in the hallways, heading for the faculty lounge. But as they were walking, Lydia stood out by the entrances looking intensely at the two of them. With a contemptable sneer towards Frida.

The next day, after returning home from Danforth and out of his work clothes, Max tries to prepare dinner. Except he forgot to pull something out of the freezer to cook.

"Sorry, must have forgotten." Max embarrassingly says to Frida with a cheesy grin on his face.

"It's alright, Max." Frida assures him. "I'll order Chinese for us." Frida gets her phone as Max heads for the bathroom. But she discovers she has no power left in her phone as she forgot to recharge it. "Oh shit! My phone's dead." Frida says.

"Maybe we can borrow Max's phone." Victor says to Frida, as Victor starts searching. He checks Max's pockets from his vest, that Max leaves draped on his chair. He then pulls out the piece of paper Lydia had slipped in the other day that Max didn't notice. He looks at it and goes "Hey Frida. What's this?"

Frida takes the piece of paper Victor had pulled out and looked at it. At that point, Max returned from the bathroom looking at Frida looking at the paper, intensely.

Confused, Max asks Frida "Watcha lookin' at?"

Frida looks at Max with a stunned look on her face. She says "What's this?!!" and hands the paper to Max.

When Max looks at it, he blurts out "What the fuck?!!"

"Huh? Whaddya guys talkin' about?" Victor asks Max and Frida.

"This looks like Lydia's cell phone number!" Max says to Frida.

"Lydia? That bitch showed up to see you?" Victor asked.

"She showed up yesterday!" Max told Victor. "She wanted to go back out with me again, but I refused!"

"Well good on ya for doin' that!" Victor said. "You don't need that skank gettin' into your life again!"

"Then how did that phone number end up in your vest pocket?" Frida asked Max.

"I dunno!" Max answered. "She must have slipped that in there without me noticing. I never use those vest pockets for anything!"

"Well what are you going to do, Max?" Frida asked him, as her voice was a bit nervous having discovered that.

"Well I know exactly what I'm going to do!" Max says, as he puts the piece of paper in his mouth and proceeds to chew it up. After chewing it for a good while, Max spits it out onto his hand, where it's become a wet wad. He shows it to Frida, and says "There! THAT'S taken care of!" He then goes and tosses the wad into the nearest waste basket. He then looks at Frida who has a worried look on her face. When Max sees that, he goes "What? What's wrong, love?"

Frida struggled to get the words out of her mouth. When Max sees that from Frida, he goes up to her, puts his hands on her shoulders, and sweetly tells her "Heyyy, listen. I already told you, she can't hurt me anymore. She means nothing to me. You're the only one I want in my life, Frida. I love you!"

After looking at him with a sorrowful look on her face, Frida make a little smile at Max. When she does that, Max kisses Frida and hugs her tightly, letting her know everything's alright.

While Victor has a concerned look on his face.
