Weekend self-care open thread: In memoriam, Gordon Lightfoot
Now, let me be honest: the only song I knew of Gordon Lightfoot's was "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". But doing research for this piece, I've discovered what an amazing musician he was. The likes of Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan have cited him as a major influence on their work. And Lord, he was around and touring forever, a real trooper. His sound influenced the folk and folk-pop music of the 60s and 70s. As his biographer Nicholas Jennings wrote, "His name is synonymous with timeless songs about trains and shipwrecks, rivers and highways, lovers and loneliness."
Without further ado, let's dip into his discography.
As always, dear friends, be ever beautiful to yourselves and those around you.
