Thursday open thread: Let us laugh at those who deserve mockery

Yesterday's post had us laughing at Donald Trump's panicked attempt to secure a meeting with Attorney General Merrick Garland in order to avoid the indictments which are barreling down towards him. He had his lawyers send a missive dictated by him which was nothing more than one of his posts on his social media site.

Well, yesterday one of his worshippers received the treatment.
Let us pause for a moment and consider this. A woman who is best known as a shrieking harpy had the unmitigated gall to call for "decorum" when she had her hot little hand on the Speaker's gavel. Democrats rightly mocked her complete lack of self-awareness.

But, it gets better.

Yesterday, Florida governor Ron DeSantis launched his presidential campaign with an online event on Twitter Spaces. And, well...

From technical problems which had people being booted every time they logged into the chat, to, well, just being absent any charisma, DeSantis' presidential launch was as disastrous as one of Elon Musk's cars.

Here's the thing. Our opponents often deride those on the liberal-left as having no sense of humor. But nothing could be further from the truth. There is nothing more painful than conservative "humor", which is just the urge to insult others with vile language. Those on the right, in fact, are the ones who take themselves seriously to such a degree that laughing at themselves is impossible. Self-deprecation is not something in which they engage. Which leads to them being laughed at all the more, as when Marjorie Taylor Greene blabbers about "decorum", or DeSantis tries to have a big rollout and instead gets mocked.

Laugh at them. Laugh at them every chance you get. Because it will make them cry. They think they are world-historical figures, when in fact they are nothing but petty hucksters. Laughing at them exposes their grift. And they can't survive being subjected to ridicule. If they're trying to save America from moral turpitude, that engenders a certain gravitas in their minds. That no one outside of their bubble sees it as they do punctures them, and they don't know how to respond save with anger. It is one of their many weaknesses. And it's one of the ways in which we beat them.
