Hump Day open thread: Life is for those who show up

The likes of Nate Silver and Steve Kornacki, who take slanted partisan GOP polls and treat them as valid, want you to give up. Why? Because for them and the media elite, chaos is good for business. No one will buy what they're selling if they're content. They need you to be agitated and frightened, so that you'll keep turning into them for their oracular powers.

Is there a chance that Democrats will lose next Tuesday? Of course. There's no certainty. But there's even less certainty now, because we are in uncharted political waters. I remain convinced that pollsters are missing the actual voters with their likely voter screens. January 6th and Dobbs have upended everything. 2020 was supposed to be a blowout for Democrats, and it was much closer; therefore, pollsters changed their methodologies again. But what if no methodology can capture this moment in human history? Everything is in flux; everything is at loose ends. And predicting that is nigh impossible in our fractured landscape.

But I do know this: Life is for those who show up. Life is for those who make their voices heard. Life is for those who engage fully in the struggle. Life is not for the timid. Life is not for those who know nothing will ever change. Life is not for those who sit above it all in cynical detachment, chuckling as we mere mortals scurry about, secure in their godlike perches.

Life is for those who toil when no reward seems possible. Life is for those who suffer and keep going. Life is for those who don't lose hope, knowing that the darkness is a passing thing, and the sun will shine the brighter with the morning. Those are who I'm with. Go into everything with that attitude, and, bit by bit, things will become better.

This is your open thread.
