Voting rights on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

There's really nothing I can add to our commemoration of our American Moses that I haven't said for years. So I will let their words speak for themselves.

Here's the open secret: If voting didn't matter, our opponents wouldn't be so intent on limiting access to this most basic right. It's why Dr. King worked so hard for the Voting Rights Act. It's why Republicans work only to limit that right, only work to make it harder to exercise that right. Even if we don't get voting rights legislation passed this year, our vote is precious. Our vote is dangerous. Our vote is power. It's our duty to use this power to preserve and expand our democracy. Without this legislation, we'll have to work harder. But don't doubt the power of our vote. And those on "our" side who say that voting doesn't matter, they are ahistorical idiots who denigrate the sacrifices of our ancestors.

On this MLK Day, we recommit to making this a  more perfect union. Let's get it done.
