Thursday open thread: Well, yesterday was a very good day

Yesterday was what Snoop Dogg's BFF Martha Stewart would have called "a very good thing".

First, we awoke to news that Matt Gaetz is screwed ten ways to Sunday as one of his co-conspirators flipped and has been giving evidence against the pedophile.
Justice Department investigators have reached a cooperation agreement with a man whose attorney says he witnessed Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) attend parties involving “a whole lot” of sex and drug use — another potential boon to the sprawling and slow-moving sex trafficking investigation into the congressman.

...

“He observed a lot of behavior that, if anybody saw it, would not think that it was the behavior you would expect from a U.S. congressman,” Zwick said.
Sex and drugs and rock 'n roll, indeed!

Then around midday news broke that Justice Stephen Breyer will retire at the end of the Supreme Court's term in June. This will allow President Joe Biden to nominate a liberal replacement while he is still assured of a Democratic majority in the Senate. I'm still of the opinion that Democrats will not only hold the Senate, but expand the majority. However, best to not take chances that Justice Breyer will die in office.

Then right-wing loon Dan Bongino—who is not at all Black, yo—got permanently banned from YouTube.
Dan Bongino, the right-wing radio commentator who hosts a weekly Fox News series, has been permanently suspended from YouTube.

“We terminated Dan Bongino’s channels for circumventing our Terms of Service by posting a video while there was an active strike and suspension associated with the account,” a spokesperson for YouTube said. “When a channel receives a strike, it is against our Terms of Service to post content or use another channel to circumvent the suspension. If a channel is terminated, the uploader is unable to use, own or create any other YouTube channels.”

YouTube issued a seven-day suspension on Bongino’s account on Jan. 20 for violating the platforms Covid misinformation policies. The main channel for The Dan Bongino Show then uploaded content within the seven-day suspension period, which led to the termination of both channels.

The spokesperson said that channels that “repeatedly or egregiously” violate terms of service are terminated.
Oh frabjous day, calloo callay, I chortled in my joy.

As a corollary to Justice Breyer retiring, Press Secretary Jen Psaki brought down the hammer on the chatter among the cognescenti that Pres. Biden should appoint Vice President Kamala Harris to the court and thus have a clean slate for the 2024 campaign.
Some people, like Bill Kristol, were pushing for Pres. Biden to move Vice Pres. Harris to the Court, and to, get this, appoint Mitt Romney to the vice presidency as a "unity" ticket. Which goes to show that 98% of Never Trumpers still have just awful and ludicrous ideas.

And it was a brilliantly beautiful day in Southern California, God's own garden.

We, folks, are winning. The wind is in our sails. We have to be determined, but not grimly. And yesterday was another signpost on that road to victory.

This is your open thread.
