Weekend self-care open thread: Ladies and gentlemen, Hall & Oates!
Your humble blog scribbler has run out of juice for this week, what with all the doom narratives and "Democrats do something" bellyaching. I haven't written about the ins and outs of the reconciliation negotiations because it's all kabuki. Something will get done, and no one who is writing on this knows anything more than any of us know. It's all tea-leaf reading.
So, we're starting self-care early, and we're going with the inestimable Philly soul purveyors Daryl Hall and John Oates. Why the dynamic duo? Because I'm heading off to see them this weekend at the Hollywood Bowl, my first concert in almost two years.
Growing up, Hall & Oates were a staple of MTV. The video channel made them superstars, and well-deserved ones at that. Their mix of funk, soul, and pop clicked, a product of the Philadelphia music scene. They formed part of my youthful soundtrack. I've been delving into their back catalogue this week preparing for the show, and their 1970s music is an undiscovered gem.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy. We're not in the negotiations, and all our yelling is going to affect only us.
As always, be beautiful to yourselves and others. And breathe.
