Weekend Self-Care: Revisiting The Literal Music Video Trend of the late 2000s

Leave it to our good friend, Cletus, to help inspire this week's open thread. 

In 2008-2009, a new trend hit the interwebs. This was none other than the literal music video craze, one that came out of nowhere and vanished even quicker. The trend was simple enough: provide narration of a music video, not of the song, but of what was actually happening in the video. This simple premise led to some hysterical results, as you can see below. The best part of this trend was that anyone could do it, and it actually introduced younger generations to the absurdity of music videos, especially those of the 80s, which seemed ripe for the picking. I fondly remember watching these on a Friday evening, drink in hand, and laughing in a way that simply helped me forget about whatever troubles may have been bubbling up throughout the work week. For a second-year teacher needing to unwind, these literal music videos were the perfect remedy for yours truly. I can't imagine what my life would have been had I not had these to look forward to on Friday evenings during that time.
