Hidey ho, everyone!
Tomorrow at midnight the world completes another rotation around the sun. It is another year. Another chance to get things right. Another chance to fix what you got wrong.
With all that's happening in the world, it is more than understandable to be pessimistic. To have nothing to which to look forward. What's the point? This world is circling the drain, the human experiment a failed one.
However, that becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. A people without hope is easy to control. Surviving the day becomes the only goal. Avoiding punishment and eking out another day is the only thing on the horizon.
That's why hope is essential. Without it we can't imagine a time without Trump and his lackeys. We can't imagine a future in which we again strive to achieve this nation's ideals. Without it, they win.
Hope is a weapon. Hope is not frail or gentle. Hope is fierce, even violent. Hope is a howitzer aimed at an enemy which glories in visions of death. Hope is what smashes that enemy.
So, what are you looking forward to in the new year? It can be politics. But I hope you share what you hope for yourselves. What good things are you looking forward to in your lives?
