Weekend self-care open thread: In the bleak midwinter
Well friends, here we are. Winter. At least in the Northern Hemisphere.
Winter, rather than being a cause of fear, is a cause for hope. After the Solstice, the days gradually grow longer. Death turns to life. Darkness turns towards light.
The darkness, as always, is a passing thing. It is something which we, as mortals, must suffer. The endless cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. Soon, the buds will spring anew, and the world will again turn green.
This is also something to remember as we in the United States enter a new dark period. It will pass. We have suffered these before. And they have always given way to brighter days. We must hold firm, and work towards the light. Those who revel in the darkness will find that the darkness will swallow them whole. We will remain.
For this weekend's self-care, we will celebrate the turning of the season. For the cycle of life continues unabated, no matter what we foolish mortals wish.
Bundle up, stay warm, and lean on those whom you love and who love you.
As always, dear friends, be ever kind, gentle, and joyful with yourselves and those around you.
