State of the Union open thread: Let's Go Joe!


Happy Thursday evening, friends!

This is your State of the Union open thread. President Joe Biden is about to go into the lion's den and face the malefactors who want to tear down this country. House Speaker Mike Johnson has told his scalawags to behave like decent adults. But we know they won't. We know they'll boo and hoot and holler at the truth bombs Pres. Biden will drop. And that's fine. That's free speech. But these people are beneath contempt. They want to destroy this Republic, and should be treated as such.

But things are coming our way. The winds are blowing our way. Look at this tweet from Simon Rosenberg, and even bigger proponent of hopium than I am:
The fact is that it's only we political nerds have been paying attention up to now. But with Trump dominating—sort of—the GOP primaries, he's the putative nominee. And things are beginning to clarify. Those who don't want to live in a dystopian fascist landscape are realizing that the choice is stark, and there's only one option. And that option is Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr.

Joe Biden has been the best president we could have hoped for during this long inflection point through which the country and the world is going through. He has the moral clarity and the moral conviction to lead us through perilous times. He worships at the altar of democracy and the agency of people to lead lives of purpose and service. And I will be proud to donate money, and vote for him in November.

So, settle in, and be sure that we are going to win. It won't be a final victory. The battle is never over. But what we have a chance to do is to make the opposition weak and disjointed, ineffectual and dispersed. As I always say, we have a world to save.
