In Heaven's name, put on your big boy and girl pants!
Yesterday, the banned-from-twitter, fined-all-of-her-salary, so-called Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene dumped one for the ages:
Now, full disclosure: It wasn't my intention to write about her, because good God she's just a damned idiot. But then the usual suspects began quivering in their boots. To wit:Just to clear things up, @RepMTG

MTG is not stupid. She knows what the Gestapo is, and that it's not cold soup. She does this on purpose to draw mockery and derision from liberals who she can turn around and say are trying to cancel her. https://t.co/tC8Y45buuF

For the love of Jiminy! There's no need to highlight everything the Georgia Republican conspiracy theorist says. She wears it as a badge of honor when the news media and liberals mock her. She wants you to talk about her. You don't have to.

Both Rothschild and Griffin are so traumatized, have stared into the Abyss so long, that they can no longer discern cunning from stupidity. Say it with me: Mad Marge is a moron. This wasn't some clever ploy to gin up controversy and clicks. She's an imbecile, and with a straight face replaced "Gestapo" with "gazpacho". Granting the likes of her and Lauren Boebert with some super-villainous Machiavellian nous which nothing in their time in public life indicates they possess is what's dangerous, not mocking MGT when she utters some dimwitted remark. Really? We're supposed to fear the likes of her?
And just to play Devil's advocate: What if she did use "gazpacho" intentionally? That's supposed to be evil genius? Getting kudos from your shrinking base, while inviting derision and laughter from the greater majority? Yes, brilliant.
As our own Cleto has said, yes, many of us have PTSD from the past few years. But, my friends, I will humbly put it to you that it's time to snap out of that. That mindset helps no one. It certainly doesn't move us forward, but leaves us mired in the past. We can't change what happened. But that trauma should inform us and make us resolute in ensuring that nothing like Trump ever happens again.
There are too many people on "our side" who cower in what could be. They've lost sight of reality. The reality is this: The GOP is fracturing. Donald Trump wants a personality cult. Many are resisting that. Trump and the likes of Greene are dunces who gained power due to a combined series of improbable events. Trump was supposed to cheat his way to victory in 2020. Instead, he's looking at being the first American president who is imprisoned. Enough gnashing of teeth and knocking of knees. We have work to do.
