Friday open thread: F*ck Elon Musk
Quick! What do Elon Musk and Adolf Hitler have in common? They were both Time Magazine's "Man of the Year".
I only mention this because Musk, purveyor of overpriced vehicles, decided to post this yesterday as some sort of dig at Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau:
Now, he deleted the tweet. Maybe because he was shamed into doing so. After all, this is what the Auschwitz Museum had to say:
Add this to the suit he's facing in California for condoning a racist work environment for Black employees and we can certainly see a pattern.
I'm not on the "eat the rich" bandwagon. But if any sociopathic billionaire deserved to be offered up as a roast, Musk would be one. And if he goes the "I'm sorry, I didn't mean offense" route: how can one not mean offense when using, approvingly, a Hitler meme? Some things are beyond the pale. Or, at least, they used to be, until another so-called "billionaire" came along and allowed the scum of the earth to give vent to their darkest hatreds.
This is the kind of person whose memory and death are denigrated by Musk's hateful flippancy:
Honor Aszer and those like him who perished due to a deranged hatred. Condemn those like Musk who use that hatred to make callous jokes.18 February 1910 | A Polish Jew, Aszer Weinfeld, was born in Kraków. A varnisher.
