Tuesday open thread: The wasteful California recall election watch party

Well, here we are. It's finally Election Day for the California recall, which only came about due to a judge's shenanigans holding open the time to collect signatures.

Right now it seems that Governor Gavin Newsom will see off this perfidious challenge. And if he does so, his main rival, the Mr. Potato Head-looking jackhole Larry Elder has already said that he won't accept the outcome of a No victory. This is now the default position of most Republicans: if they lose an election, they will cry "fraud" and "rigged" and deal our democracy another wound. And yes, this started with Saint Bernie of Sanders being unable to accept that a woman much more accomplished than he ever was or ever will be cleaned his clock in the 2016 Democratic primaries. 

So settle in. If you're a Californian and haven't voted No yet, get out there and vote.
