Monday open thread: Goodnight, Mr. Grant

Another of the good ones left us yesterday. Actor Ed Asner, most famous for playing the role of Lou Grant on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", passed away.

If there was a dictionary entry for "gruff with a heart of gold", Ed Asner's picture would be there next to it. His liberal politics informed his life, always leading him to stand up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves. I imagine that 2017-2021 pained him grievously, seeing his country in the grips of a fascist lunatic. I'm glad that he lived long enough to see the majority of the country begin to fight back.

For our open thread, an appreciation of another good man gone to his reward.
