Under the weather and overworked open thread: Miserere Mei Deus

Happy Monday, friends!

I had a very different idea for today's thread, which I'll hopefully write up for tomorrow, but my body is rebelling, and work is weighing on me. So enjoy this open thread and this piece of music.

Background: Miserere Mei Deus was written by Gregorio Allegri for an Easter Service in the Sistine Chapel in 1514. The pope of the time loved it so much that he forbade its copying and performance outside of the chapel. So, how did we get it? A young man heard it performed one Easter, went home, and transcribed what he had heard. The young man? Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The piece is a setting of Psalm 51; the words and music fully convey the longing for a union with God.

Enjoy your Monday, and may you be at peace.

This is your open thread.
