Weekend self-care open thread: What's going on?

Berry Gordy, Jr., founder and head of Motown, listened to Marvin Gaye's What's Going On, his 1971 masterpiece, and didn't want to release it, pronouncing it the "worst thing he'd ever heard." Which goes to show that even the man who had a hand in shaping modern American pop music could have a howler.

What's Going On regularly tops polls of the best albums of all time, often showing up at number 1. And for good reason. This song cycle tackles everything from racism to war to environmental degradation. It does so with music that wraps you in velvet, and lyrics that cut to your soul.

For this weekend's self-care, Marvin Gaye's magnum opus.

Happy weekend, everyone. Be good, brave, bold, and beautiful to yourselves and others.
