Open thread: Justice for George Floyd

The jury has returned its verdict on the murderer of George Floyd, former police officer Derek Chauvin.

Guilty on all counts.

I'll have more to say later, but this is one of those inflection points, just like Mr. Floyd's murder was an inflection point. A Black man murdered under the color of authority has been given justice. His life was mercilessly ripped from him as part of this country's original sin. But for once, justice was served. This is the kind of turning point of which historians write in a few years.

The people won. Justice won. Decency won. Good won.
