Social Conditioning: Let's Set Some Things Straight!
Beautiful Duchess Meghan Markle just cannot win with the British press. In fact, that can be said about some in the American media. Her only sin is having a black mother and daring to marry a white prince! Her father Thomas Markle has acted like a immature teenager. He is not even supporting his daughter of whom he claims to love. How do you constantly embarrass the person you say you love my spilling your guts to a media that has shown time and time again that they have a distaste for your daughter? But Thomas Markle gets a pass because he has the privilege of being a white male. Let's say that if her mother Doris Ragland had done similar things to Meghan how do you think she would be treated in the media? It is a rhetorical question.
A few months ago, I was at work in the break room when a news flash came across the screen that Meghan and Prince Harry were stepping down from their royal duties. Even though Prince Harry has explained this several times people are still blaming Meghan for the couple's decision to exit royal life. Some of the employees that were in the break-room were declaring this was wrong! How could Meghan do this to the queen! You heard that right the woman got the blame!.
The last time I checked, these two people are adults and can make up their minds whether or not they want to serve out their royal duties. Does Prince Harry not have a mind of his own? Can he not make a decision without people wondering if Meghan is controlling his mind? Let me frank, if sex was the ruling factor in controlling men then women would be in power all over the world and we would have a woman as president! Even through these are dire times, there are people saying that the world would be under a worst threat if Hillary Clinton was president. There are no words!
Time and time again women particularly women of color are continually scapegoated! I for one am sick and tired of it! Please stop implying that a woman can use her sexual prowess to control men. It is a sexist trope and you are hurting women when you accused them of using their bodies to get ahead. Women work hard for their money and are still paid less than men.
The truth is The Duchess of Sussex is being scapegoated because she is a woman of color! Pier Morgan and the British tabloids wants to openly call her the N-word but they know it would cause a backlash so the next best thing is to criticize her every move and to always question her motives. Fortunately, women especially women of color are on to the British press and so is her husband. Yes I repeat, her husband!
