We are the revolutionary vanguard!
For the past two years we've been treated to scenes of spoiled little brats "putting it all out there" for Gaza. They have occupied college campuses, defaced property, abused Jews, and helped swing the election to Donald Trump by their petulance. "Revolution Now!" has been their battle cry.
Well. They got what they wanted. They defeated Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party. From Dearborn to Duluth they reveled in what they achieved, "speaking truth to power," denying "Genocide Joe and Killer Kamala" office.
And every bad thing that Black people warned would happen is now happening. Immigrants rounded up by the Keystone Gestapo. Open corruption of a sort which would have made people in the Gilded Age blush. Democracy hanging by a thread.
Now would be a great time for that revolution. Now would be a great time for them to reoccupy those college campuses for all the marginalized people being targeted by the Trump regime. Now would be a great time for them to hound Trump and other Republicans at every event they hold. Now would be a great time to do what John Lewis urged citizens to do and get into "good trouble" when tyranny reared its head.
So. Where are they?
They show up at Kamala Harris' book talks and heckle her. They use the grossest racist and antisemitic memes against House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. They keep, in fact, attacking the same people they've spent their entire lives attacking: not Republicans, but their so-called "own side".
Why? Why is this?
Well, as my friend Kenny Mack implies, they are cowards of the rankest sort.
They were all big in their feels during President Joe Biden's tenure because they knew that Pres. Biden abided by the rule of law and wouldn't sic the full force of the federal government on them. They knew that under him they could live out their cosplay revolutionary fantasies and incur no consequences. Democrats when in power are punctilious on matters of constitutional rights. But now that Democrats are out of power? They scurry back under their fetid rocks, biding their time until it's safe to come back out again.
These are people to neither take seriously nor to court. Nothing that Democrats do will ever be good enough for them. They want to be the leaders of the party, supplanting the normies, who will merely have to bend the knee.
However, we normies have had it. These people had a huge hand in the troubles we now face. All that their peevishness is that of, as we say in Spanish, a "malcriado," a child being raised to be a monster whom no one can control, and who will amount to nothing in life. As Kenny Mack said, they want revolution, but only as long as they can snipe from the sidelines and be the intellectual vanguard. Of course, they are neither intellectuals nor a vanguard. They subsist on half-baked ideas of revolution and socialism, understanding neither, and aghast that no one sees their obvious-to-them genius. They rail against those who have more grey hairs, who have lived experience, because they stand in their way. They demand that they step aside and let "youth" take over; yes, the same "youth" that never seem able to make it to the voting booth, the same "youth" who demand everything; and if they don't get every little thing they insist upon, they will be happy to blow everything up to kingdom come.
They see themselves as heirs to the Jacobins, ready to sweep aside the old order and usher in a bright new day. And yet they can't be bothered to do the work that would require. Do you think these lily-livered children of privilege could stomach seeing the executions? Of course not. And they are so historically illiterate that they don't know what fate their heroes met. It wasn't a good one.
If the revolution depends on their like, not only will it not be televised, it won't even be posted on social media. And that is a blessing.
